FAIR TRADE JEWELLERY FROM KAZURI
The Kazuri Jewellery shown below comes from Kenya and is made in a workshop located on the farm once owned by Karen Von Blixen of “Out of Africa” fame at the base of the Ngong Hills outside Nairobi.
Kazuri means small and beautiful in Swahili and these pieces shown below are certainly that. Every bead is shaped by hand, without the aid of moulds or forms, by one of 150 local women employed by Kazuri. The beads are then polished and Kiln fired, painted and fired again before being strung. All Kazuri jewellery is handmade and therefore each piece will be unique, in an age of mass production, this it what makes Kazuri jewellery especially appealing.
